A little planning goes a long way before you hit the beach or the marina. This guide covers what to bring, when to arrive, and how to reach each WOW location in San Juan. For a quick overview of all activities, start at the WOW Surfing School homepage.

Before You Book

Peak season in Puerto Rico runs from December through April. Weekends and holidays fill up fast, so reserve your spot early. Surf lessons meet on Isla Verde beach near the San Juan Ritz-Carlton. Look for the blue WOW flags on the sand. Jet ski tours depart from San Juan Bay Marina in Condado, under the Sizzler restaurant by the water. Tours do not leave from Isla Verde, so double-check your booking before you drive. Call (787) 955-6059 if you need help choosing the right activity.

What to Bring

Wear a bathing suit and bring sunscreen, a towel, and sunglasses for both activities. Surf students should arrive 15 minutes early. Jet ski riders should arrive 30 minutes early for check-in and a safety briefing. Reef-safe sunscreen is a good choice because you will be in open water. A dry shirt and flip-flops make the walk back to your car more comfortable after a session.

Surf Lessons on Isla Verde

Lessons last about 1.5 hours and include board rental. Beginners start on the sand before entering the water with an instructor. Isla Verde, also called Pine Grove Beach, has gentle waves that work well for first-time surfers. Jet Ski Tours from Condado

The one-hour El Morro jet ski tour follows the San Juan coastline with views of Castillo San Felipe del Morro and open Caribbean water. Free parking is available at San Juan Bay Marina. Weather and Cancellations

Ocean conditions can change quickly in the Caribbean. High winds or rough seas may delay a jet ski tour or shift a surf lesson schedule. Your guide will explain any changes on arrival. Check your confirmation email for the latest meeting point before you leave your hotel. When in doubt, call our office the morning of your activity.
